Identifies the purpose of the account. Newly created accounts are automatically assigned the Posting account type, but you can change this. Choose the field to select one of the following five options:
Job Task Type | Function |
---|---|
Posting | Posting |
Heading | A heading for a group of job tasks. |
Total | Total is used when you want the program to total a series of job tasks that do not immediately precede the Total account. You use Total when job tasks from many different job task groupings should be totaled. If you use the Total type, you must fill in the Totaling field manually. |
Begin-Total | A marker for the beginning of a series of job tasks to be totaled that ends with an End-Total. |
End-Total | A total of a series of accounts that starts with the preceding Begin-Total account. The total is defined in the Totaling field. |
Begin-Total and End-Total are used together to group job tasks.
Example
No. | Name | Account Type | |
---|---|---|---|
1000 | Computer installation | Begin-Total | |
1010 | Install Windows | Posting | |
1020 | Set up drivers | Posting | |
1030 | Set up network | Posting | |
1040 | Set up printers | Posting | |
1050 | Test computer | Posting | |
1099 | Total computer installation | End-Total |
When you click Actions, point to Functions, and then click Indent Job Tasks, the job tasks between Begin-Total and End-Total are automatically indented one space. At the same time, the Totaling field for the job task of the End-Total type is filled in based on the job tasks in the group. In the example above, the schedule amounts, usage amounts etc. for all five posting tasks would be added up and the result displayed in the balance field for the Total Computer Installation job task.
It is recommended that you let the Indent function fill in the Totaling field for End-Total job tasks instead of filling it in yourself.
