Contains the item category code for the item.
You can use item categories to group default item setup values to make creating new items easier. An item category code specifies the following values:

Default general product posting group.

Default inventory posting group.

Default VAT product posting group.

Default costing method.
To see or select item categories in the Item Category window, click the drop-down arrow in the field.
