A main asset is an asset that consists of other assets, which are called components. For example, a car is a main asset for a car manufacturer because it consists of many other assets, including tires, the car frame and the car engine.
To build up and maintain main assets and their components, click Related Information on the fixed asset card for the main asset and then point to Fixed Asset and click Main Asset Components. The program will display a Main Asset Components window in which you can set up some lines, each representing one component of the main asset. The window shows only the components of the main asset related to the fixed asset card on which you selected.
If an asset is a component of another asset, the program fills in the fields on the fixed asset card (for the component asset) with the following:
-
The Main Asset/Component field will contain "Component."
-
The Component of Main Asset field will contain the number of the main fixed asset.
To see the list of components of a main asset, click Related Information, point to Fixed Asset and select Main Asset Components on the fixed asset card for the main asset.
