When you create an assembly order, you can add lines to the order to account for the usage of resources. The posting of the usage is reflected on a time sheet. Before proceeding, make sure that the resource has been set up to use time sheets.
To integrate resource hours on an assembly order with a time sheet
Create a sales order that will initiate an assembly order (in this case, the item is assemble to order). On a new sales line, add an assembly item and a quantity. Release the sales order and open the assembly order associated with the sales order. For more information, see How to: Sell Items Assembled to Order.
-or-
Create an assembly order directly. If you create an assembly order, on a new assembly order line, add an assembly item and a quantity for it. For more information, see How to: Assemble Items.
On a new assembly line, in the Type field, select Resource.
To select a resource, choose the No. field.
To reflect the number of hours used for the order, enter a quantity in the Quantity per field.
For an assembly order associated with a sales order, return to the sales order, and on the Process tab, choose Post.
-or-
For an assembly order, release the order, and on the Home tab, in the Process group, choose Post.
To review the posting information as reflected in the time sheet, open the time sheet that contains the date that you performed the posting.
The time sheet contains an approved time sheet line for the assembly order. The line consists of the resource name in the Description field and the number of hours posted from the assembly order. The time usage is recorded for the posting date.
Note The line has the status Approved, and you cannot reopen it or submit it.
