You can set an SMTP email notification to be generated every time that an approval is required or when a rejection or delegation occurs.
To set an SMTP notification
In the Search box, enter Approval Setup, and then choose the related link.
On the Notification FastTab, in the Notify User about list, select the events that you want to trigger a notification:

Cancellations
-
Rejections
-
Delegations
-
Approvals
Choose the OK button.
In the Search box, enter SMTP Mail Setup, and then choose the related link.
Fill in the SMTP Server field and the Authentication field. For more information about a specific field, select the field, and then press F1.
Note The default setting for the SMTP Server Port field is 25. Choose the OK button.
You can also set up SMTP mail notifications on an Azure deployment. In this case, use Basic authentication.
