Specifies a dimension value interval or a list of dimension values. The program will total the entries for the dimension values displayed in the field to give a total balance. The field is completed in different ways, depending on the dimension value type you selected in the Dimension Value Type field:
-
If the dimension value type is Standard, Begin-Total or Heading, the Totaling field must be blank.
-
If the dimension value type is End-Total, the program will automatically fill in the Totaling field when you click Actions, point to Functions, and then click Indent Dimension Values. The dimension values that are totaled are the ones that lie between each pair of Begin-Total and End-Total dimension values.
-
If the dimension value type is Total, you must fill in the Totaling field yourself to indicate which dimension values will be totaled.
Important |
---|
For dimension values of the End-Total type, the Totaling field can be filled in manually. It is, however, best to let the Indent function fill in the field. |
You can enter a maximum of 80 characters, both numbers and letters. The Totaling field is a kind of filter field, because what is entered in the field limits the number of dimension values used by the program to calculate the total balance. There are specific rules for what you can enter:
Meaning | Sample Expression | Dimension Values Included |
---|---|---|
Equal to | ADM | Administration |
Interval | ADM .. PROD ..PROD | From dimension value Administration to dimension value Production in the value code list Up to and including dimension value Production in the value code list |
Either/or | ADM|SALES | Administration and Sales dimension values |
And | <ADM&>PROD | Dimension values that come before Administration and after Production in the value code list |
Different from | <>ADM | All dimension values except Administration |
Above | > ADM | Dimension values before Administration in the value code list |
Greater than or equal to | >=1200 | Dimension values with a number code equal to or greater than 1200 |
Less than | <1200 | Dimension values with a number code less than 1200 |
You can also combine the various format types:
Sample Expression | Dimension Values Included |
---|---|
2999|2100..2490 | Dimension value code 2999 and dimension value codes 2100 through 2490 |
..1299|1400.. | Dimension value codes up to and including 1299 and dimension value code 1400 and above; that is, all dimension value codes except 1300 through 1399 |
