If you have selected the Autosearch for Duplicates check box in the Marketing Setup window, duplicates are automatically identified each time you enter a new contact.
You can also search for duplicates manually, for example, if you have not selected the automatic search for duplicates.
Before you can search for duplicates, you must set up search strings in the Duplicate Search String Setup window. For more information, see How to: Set Up Duplicate Search Strings.
To search for duplicates manually
In the Search box, enter Generate duplicate search string, and then choose the related link.
On the Contact FastTab, enter filters to specify the information you want to use to search for duplicates.
Choose the OK button to start searching for duplicates.
To view the list of the duplicates, open the Contact Duplicates window. Here you can specify if the duplicates found are actually separate contacts.
To specify that the contacts are actually two different companies, select the Separate Contacts check box.
Leave the Separate Contacts field empty or clear it to specify that the contacts are true duplicates.
Important |
---|
If the contacts are true duplicates, the duplicates are not deleted. You will have to do this manually. |
